Ranchi: The state police has deployed nearly 14,000 additional personnel, comprising officers, constables, and paramilitary forces, across the districts to maintain law and order during Ram Navami.
As many as 25 deputy superintendents (DSP), 20 inspectors, 5,577 lathi police, 5,400 home guards, eight companies of the CRPF, six companies of Rapid Action Police and 315 armed police personnel have been pressed into crowd control measures across the 24 districts. Additional support includes tear gas units, fire services squads and bomb disposal teams.
Ranchi district has been sectioned into 10 zones, each supervised by a magistrate, DSP and police force. The state capital, which will witness grand processions on Sunday, will have 16 patrolling parties monitoring designated areas and static police forces stationed at 400 locations. That apart, every police station will have a quick reaction team at its disposal.
Ram Navami processions will also be accompanied by magistrates and police forces with close monitoring of roadside spectators, officials said.
Multiple control rooms will operate throughout the district, including the main district control room, Bundu sub-divisional control room, and sub-control rooms at Albert Ekka Chowk Ekra Masjid Chowk and Doranda and police Bariatu police station.
DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said, "Police are conducting drone surveillance in sensitive areas to prevent stone-pelting incidents from rooftops. Static forces have been deployed in all sensitive areas. We urge people to refrain from sharing provocative messages on social media."
The Ranchi administration, led by SDO Utkarsh Kumar and city SP Raj Kumar Mehta, conducted a flag march on Saturday evening to demonstrate police vigilance against anti-social elements.
In Dhanbad, police forces under SSP HP Janardanan held a flag march on Friday. Officials announced the deployment of static forces at 90 sensitive locations and plainclothes personnel at various points. The authorities will monitor processions using drones and CCTV cameras.
