Grandad fights off leopard to save 4-yr-old
Raipur: An elderly man bravely confronted a leopard to save his four-year-old grandson in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh.
Pradeep Netam, 4, son of Vishwajeet Netam, was playing outside his house in Kothi village, near the forests in Chhura block, on Monday evening when a leopard entered the area in search of food.
The leopard attacked the child and tried to drag him into the forest when his grandfather intervened and confronted the animal, which then escaped.
Gariaband district forest officer (DFO) Lakshman Singh said that the attack occurred in the dark. He said leopards usually attack small prey like dogs and goats, and this leopard might have targeted the child.
The DFO added that the child is out of danger and resumed normal activities, requiring only a few stitches for his neck injuries. The grandfather, whose identity could not be confirmed, is approximately 60 years old, said the DFO.
