Madurai:
Madras high court has directed the authorities to take steps to remove encroachments from a waterbody at Anmaipperukki village in Kariapatti taluk in Virudhunagar district.
The court heard a petition filed by K Dhanalakshmi.
A division bench of justice G R Swaminathan and justice B Pugalendhi observed that the revenue records enclosed by the petitioner and the submission of the additional govt pleader confirmed that the land in Anmaipperukki village is a waterbody.
Hence, the judges directed the Kariapatti tahsildar to conduct a survey. If encroachments are noticed, notices shall be given to all the encroachers/interested parties, and opportunities should be given to them. They will be removed by adhering to due process of law. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of four months, the judges directed and disposed of the petition.
