Aam Aadmi Party intensifies door-to-door campaign for Sanjeev Arora in Ludhiana West ahead of assembly bypoll
Ludhiana: With the Election Commission yet to announce the date for the Ludhiana West by-election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already swung into campaign mode, deploying volunteers and party workers for door-to-door outreach in the key urban constituency.
AAP's Ludhiana urban district president, Sharanpal Singh Makkar, confirmed that booth in-charges had been assigned across all 192 booths in the constituency. On Tuesday, the party distributed campaign materials including pamphlets, posters and flags, and teams began canvassing in areas such as Kitchlu Nagar, Jawahar Camp and Bharat Nagar Chowk. "Teams of 15 to 20 volunteers, along with booth incharges, visited voters directly to share the achievements of the AAP govt and the contributions of our Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora," Makkar said. "We've also displayed party flags in several localities and informed people about our development agenda for Ludhiana West."
The campaign, Makkar added, is focused on promoting state-level governance successes while highlighting local-level initiatives backed by Arora, who is expected to contest the byelection. A senior AAP member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the party was pushing harder to familiarise voters with Arora, who even though well-known in industrial circles is new relatively to the general electorate.
"He's respected among business leaders, but for the common voter, he's still a fresh face," the source said. "That's why we've started early, and the intensity of outreach will increase in the coming weeks, with Arora expected to personally visit each area."
On Tuesday evening, AAP volunteers were seen engaging residents in Sita Nagar, near Bharat Nagar Chowk. Ward 80 incharge Rajinder Singh Gaggi said public response has been overwhelmingly positive. "People appreciate the AAP government's policies and many are eager to learn about schemes they didn't know existed," Gaggi said. Beyond canvassing, AAP leaders are also holding regular internal meetings to plan future outreach, indicating a full-fledged grassroots push even before polling dates are declared.
