Lucknow: A modern parking facility will be developed with a budget of Rs 166 crore in Ayodhya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to construct an open surface parking facility for convenience of devotees visiting the Ram temple.
To be developed under EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction mode) in Manjha Jamthara, by PWD, the parking is coming up over 35 acres govt land.
Officials said the project would house 475 motor vehicles and would help streamline traffic situation in the city. There would be a surface parking compound where vehicles would be parked in rows, along with a five-floor building on the compound, with two dormitories, 13 shops and public amenities.
The facility will not only help manage crowd of devotees but also streamline traffic management in Ayodhya. Following inauguration of Ram temple, there was significant increase in number of devotees visiting Ayodhya. Lakhs of people started arriving in the city daily, creating challenges to parking and traffic management.
The govt initiative is step towards developing Ayodhya as world-class religious and tourist destination. Govt already approved several infrastructure projects in Ayodhya, including roads, bridges, hotels and other facilities. The parking will also boost local businesses, as shops and dormitories will offer accommodation and shopping opportunities for tourists.
The construction agency is responsible for designing, material procurement and construction of the project, ensuring transparency in cost and time. PWD executive engineer Umesh Chandra said the department was committed to getting the project completed within stipulated time frame. The officer added that fire fighting equipment, CCTV cameras and wall murals on the exterior of the building would be installed.
