Devdutt Pattanaik On Sanatan Dharma: Why It’s Beyond Religion & Borders
Lucknow: The construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya crossed a significant milestone with the installation of ‘kalash' atop the temple on Monday.
The ‘kalash' installation (‘kalash puja') was performed from 9.15am to 10.30am atop the main ‘shikhar' (spire) of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple with full Vedic rituals in the presence of Brahmins.
General secretary of the Ram temple trust, Champat Rai, said that the significant milestone in the temple construction was achieved on the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi and the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
"As the next step, we will start work for the installation of ‘dhwajadand' (flagpole) on the temple's main ‘shikhar'. The overall construction work is progressing steadily," Rai said.
Reacting to the development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "The construction of Ram temple stands as a powerful symbol of not just spiritual devotion but also cultural and social harmony."
"The grand temple in Ayodhya reflects the collective faith and unwavering resolve of crores of devotees, which will go on to reinforce the values of Sanatan Dharma on the global stage," he added.
The CM lauded the efforts of the temple trust and the people contributing to the construction, calling it a defining step towards building a ‘new India'.
Talking about big budget projects lined up in Ayodhya, Yogi said, "The state govt is committed to transforming Ayodhya into a global city. It will emerge as the spiritual and tourism capital of the world in the decades to come."
Over the past three years, road and railway connectivity, as well as an international airport, has already boosted economic activity in the Ayodhya division, officials said, adding that small and medium businesses were mushrooming due to the influx of devotees from various parts of the country.
