5 Oman nationals found staying illegally at Gomtinagar hotel, FIR lodged

Lucknow: Five Oman nationals were found to be staying illegally at a hotel in Gomtinagar during an inspection by Lucknow police and Local Intelligence Bureau on Thursday night.
Police on Friday booked the owner and manager of the hotel located in Virat Khand of Gomtinagar for illegally accommodating foreign nationals without informing administrative or police authorities. The five Omanis are suspected of being involved in suspicious activities, according to intelligence inputs received by the police.
The inspection was done action following a tip-off that Omanis staying at the hotel were not registered as per the norms under the Foreigners Act.
Sub-inspector Kanchan Tiwari, Anand Kumar and Deepak Kumar Yadav conducted the inspection.
Hotel manager Adil showed the guest register in which five Oman nationals were found to have stayed at the hotel since Apr 14. Hotel owner Gaurav Kashyap was asked to provide the passports and relevant documents of the guests. While photocopies of the passports were submitted, the hotel failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the extended and irregular stay of the guests, said the police.
According to the passport records, the Omani nationals staying at the hotel were Saleh Ali Masood Nasir Al-Rushaidi, who had been staying since Apr 2, Mahmood Saleh Adeem Al-Ashi, who stayed from Apr 19 to April 22, Khamis Saleem Kharmas Al-Ghanboosi, who stayed on Apr 14-15, and again from Apr 17 to the present, Saleem Khamis Saleem Al-Ghanboosi, who stayed since Apr 17, and Alnoud Ahmed Suleiman Al-Rahbi, whose passport photocopy was recovered but stay details were unclear.
Police said the Omanis were not present at the hotel during the inspection and were said to be frequently leaving the premises early in the morning and returning late at night.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the hotel management did not inform the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), or the local police regarding the stay of the Omani guests, which is mandatory under Indian law. It is suspected that the hotel allowed their stay for financial gains while violating multiple legal provisions, said the police.
Additional DCP, East Zone, Pankaj Kumar Singh, said an FIR was lodged against Gaurav Kashyap and Adil has been registered at the Gomtinagar police station. Investigation is underway to ascertain the activities of the foreign nationals during their stay.
