Trader killed, two hurt as car hits camel on NH-68
Jaisalmer: A grain trader was killed, while his son and grandson injured when their car collided with a camel on National Highway 68 near Bachhadao village in Barmer district late Tuesday night.
Parasmal Dhariwal, a resident of Nyati Nohra in Barmer city, was returning from Ramji Ki Gol with his son Naresh Kumar and grandson Sanjay Kumar when a camel suddenly crossed the highway.
The driver failed to spot the animal in time, causing a severe collision. The car was extensively damaged, especially the front and roof. Parasmal was declared dead at Barmer Hospital while Naresh and Sanjay remain under treatment. The camel also died on the spot.
Dhorimanna police reached the scene soon after being alerted. They cleared the wreckage and shifted the body to the district hospital mortuary. The injured were admitted to the govt hospital in Barmer. A case has been registered based on the family's complaint, and investigation is underway.
The deceased was a prominent figure in the local Jain community. He was known for his philanthropic work. SHO Bagduram said necessary legal procedures were completed, and the body was handed over to the family, Wednesday.
