Jaipur: After the completion of the fifth round of the 2nd Jaipur Open Fide Rated Chess tournament, organised jointly by Waves and JHW, Railways' International Master and second seed Rahul Sangma (2121) and third seed Shreyan Majumdar (2110) of Maharashtra have gone ahead of the rest of the players by scoring 5 points each.
Both Rahul and Shreyan notched up five successive victories so far in the tournament. Four more rounds will be played in the next couple of days.
On the other hand, Rajasthan's Manav Kumar (1892) created a sensation by playing a draw with the top seed Arun Kataria (2353) and disrupting his title bid. National Junior Championship bronze medallist Arun is jointly in second place with 4.5 points.
GB Joshi from Delhi, Gopal Maheshwari from UP, Kumar Gaurav from Bihar, Nimay Agarwal from Haryana, Tanna Krishna Alpeshbhai from Gujarat, Raghavan Samarth Rajesh from USA and YP Srivastava from Bihar have kept themselves in the title race with 4.5 points each to their credit.
