Indore: Seven minors among nine were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a youth to death after an altercation over bike collision two days ago.
According to police, the incident took place when the victim — Sahil Khan, 18, a resident of Nayata Mundla — and his friends, Chhota Salman and Vishnu, were returning from a trip to Ujjaini in Khudel area, where they went to bathe. They were riding in the correct lane near Jamnia when a group of miscreants approached from the wrong side. One of the bikes carrying three men collided with their bike, leading to a heated argument. The situation escalated when Sahil and his friends objected to the verbal abuse hurled by the bikers.
As the confrontation turned violent, Sahil's friends fled. The attackers then surrounded Sahil and, in a crowded rural area, chased and repeatedly stabbed him. He suffered serious injuries to the abdomen, chest and waist. The attack was so severe that the victim's intestines were reportedly exposed. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The police team reviewed footage from around 70 to 80 CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the crime scene. Based on witness descriptions, nine suspects were identified travelling on two motorcycles and one scooter. Intelligence led to the discovery that all suspects were residents of Raj Nagar, Aerodrome Road in Indore, and worked in the cloth market.
Police searched multiple residences and apprehended all nine accused. Among them were two adults, Chetan Balai, 18, and Jai Rode, 18, along with seven minors.
