Revanth, Congress leaders condemn terrorist attack, call for strong action
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and several other Congress leaders on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Calling it a ‘heinous act', the leaders asserted that such a cowardly attack would not shake the spirit or confidence of the Indian people.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, chief minister A Revanth Reddy urged the Central govt to take stringent action against those responsible for the attack.
He prayed for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace and extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families during this time of grief.
Stating that no community, religion or dharma would allow such a terrorist attack, Meenakshi said those who indulge in such acts are not part of any religious philosophy.
"The Congress has always been at the forefront of fighting terrorist forces. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism. If such a terrorist act was committed during the terms of the UPA govt, the concerned ministers would be held responsible," she said.
"The Central govt should investigate what went wrong. The Centre was talking about the restoration of peace in the Kashmir valley, and it should look into why such a lapse in security and intelligence happened. Right now, we are standing in support of the families who lost their family members and to fight against the terrorists," she further said.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress on Wednesday postponed two of its crucial meetings in view of the terror attack. The party observers' meeting held a two-minute silence in respect of the people who were killed in the attack.
