HYDERABAD: In another setback to the ruling TRS, Badangpet mayor Ch Parijatha Narsimha Reddy resigned from the primary membership of the party on Sunday. The mayor sent her resignation to TRS Rangareddy district president and MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy.
Though Parijatha Reddy did not give any reasons, she merely cited “personal reasons” for her decision to quit the party.
She resigned due to differences with other party leaders and might join
Congress along with two councillors, sources said.
The mayor said she joined TRS two-and-half years ago to develop Badangapet, and strived hard by making every government programme a success. “Unfortunately, some leaders are against us. For our self-respect, we have decided to quit the party and join Congress,” she said in a statement.
She said she would strive hard to strengthen Congress in the Maheshwaram assembly constituency. TNN
