Nigerian held with drugs worth Rs 1.6 crore
Panaji: The Goa police crime branch busted a drug racket on Saturday and arrested a Nigerian national with narcotics estimated to be worth Rs 1.6 crore.Crime branch superintendent of police, Rahul Gupta, said police conducted a raid at Parra on Friday night and nabbed Nigerian, Nnanyelugo Abasili, 23, who was staying in a rented room.“Crime branch seized narcotics from his possession, suspected to be 60g of cocaine, 99g of brown heroin, 1.1g ecstasy (2,400 tablets), 19g of crystal MDMA, and Rs 70,000 cash, altogether estimated to be worth Rs 1.6 crore,” Gupta said.The Nigerian came to India on April 28 this year and stayed on a student visa.Gupta said Goa police have intensified their action against drug trafficking this year.“Total seizures by the Goa police stand at Rs 68.3 crore worth of drugs and 74 arrests, out of which the crime branch seized Rs 57 crore in drugs, arrested 15 persons, and busted two international drug trafficking rackets operating in India,” Gupta said._____________________2 foreigners arrested for overstayingPanaji: Goa police on Saturday arrested two foreigners for allegedly overstaying without valid documents.Mapusa police registered an FIR under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and Section 6(a) of the Passport Entry into India Rules, 1950, based on a complaint by police sub-inspector, Bablo Subhash Parab of the Mapusa police.North Goa superintendent of police, Rahul Gupta, said Nigerian national Chigozie Ezekiel, 24, and Ivory Coast national Ismale Baba, 29, were caught in Parra for staying in Goa without a valid visa or passport.Further investigation is under way.
