Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match today, brace for heavy traffic around Wankhede Stadium
NEW DELHI: Cricket fans heading to the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday evening for the high-octane IPL clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) should brace for traffic snarls across south Mumbai, especially around Marine Drive and Churchgate areas.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7.30pm, and although no official traffic advisory has been issued so far, authorities anticipate significant congestion due to the influx of thousands of spectators.
Commuters are being urged to plan their travel accordingly, as the areas surrounding the stadium are expected to witness heavy vehicle movement, pedestrian activity, and limited parking availability.
The last home game at Wankhede, played on March 31 between MI and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), caused major traffic disruptions along Marine Drive and adjoining roads as fans thronged the stadium in large numbers. Similar delays are anticipated today as well.
Residents, office-goers, and motorists passing through south Mumbai in the evening hours are advised to use alternate routes or travel ahead of time to avoid being caught in long jams.
Public transport is expected to be heavily relied upon, and local trains and BEST buses may also see increased ridership post-match, especially around Churchgate station.
