Beed woman urges Shinde for justice after daughter’s suicide
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A woman from Beed has written an open letter to deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde seeking justice for her college-going daughter, who allegedly died by suicide more than a month ago following constant harassment and blackmail by a group of boys.
The girl allegedly died by suicide at her uncle's residence in Dharashiv on March 14. According to the mother, her marriage was due on April 20.
In the letter, the mother referred to herself as ‘Ladki Bahin', and stated that her daughter wanted to become an airhostess. "Our daughter left this world all of a sudden. We know that she will not return, but we want punishment for those responsible for her death," the mother stated in the letter.
The girl was studying in a Beed-based college. In the letter, the mother also named one of the accused and said all the accused were still roaming free. The mother also accused the police of inaction in the case.
The Dharashiv police could not be reached for comments. This incident comes close on the heels of multiple incidents of lawlessness in Beed, including the brutal killing of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh on Dec 9 last year. Deputy CM Shinde could not be reached for his comments.
