Simultaneous polls in national interest, both economically and socially: UP cabinet minister Baby Rani Maurya
Prayagraj: UP cabinet minister Baby Rani Maurya on Monday said the one nation-one election proposal mooted by the BJP was in the national interest, both economically and socially.
"If we hold simultaneous elections, the country will get more economic benefits and enhance social harmony. Several lakh crores were spent in multiple elections. By having simultaneous elections, the country will save a lot of money. Those people who keep black money for elections will also be checked," she said during an event in the city.
A high-level committee was formed under the chairmanship of former President of India, Ramnath Kovind, who said in his report that 32 parties have supported the move.
"In many countries, one nation one election was held. Former election commissioner, former diplomats, and former judges have also supported the move. Repeated elections bring negativity among the people. One has to go to cast a vote repeatedly. Police and other security forces also get tired of conducting elections from one state to another. By having simultaneous elections, our country will progress more, and the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become ‘Vishwa Guru by 2047' will also be fulfilled," she said.
On this occasion, former MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi said repeated elections often hamper development work and projects, and a lot of money was wasted.
"Niti Aayog has also said many a times that elections should be held simultaneously. Voter lists are being made again and again, and separate voter lists are made for Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, Municipal Corporation, and Panchayat," she said.
On this occasion, BJP district president Gangapar Nirmala Paswan, district president BJP Mahila Morcha Mahanagar Shikha Rastogi, Gangapar Rupam Tripathi, Jamunapar Sarita Mishra, Akanksha Sonkar, manager Pankaj Srivastava, principal Archana Pathak, district media incharge Mahanagar Rajesh Kesarwani, Gangapar Umesh Tiwari, Archana Shukla, Abha Singh, Durgesh Nandini, Councillor Kiran Jaiswal, Kusum Lata Gupta, Vandana Singh Chandra Ahluwalia, Saroj Gupta, Rita Singh, Deepmala, Kalpana Sharma, and a large number of women were present.
