6 killed in separate road accidents in western UP
Agra: Six persons, including four minors, lost their lives in separate road accidents in western Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
In the first incident, two people were killed, and four others were injured when a bus on its way to Mathura crashed into a tempo travelling from Bharatpur near Tarsi village on Mathura highway early on Wednesday morning.
The victims were identified as Shyam Sunder, 50, a resident of Nauhjheel, and Parmanand, 28, from Baldev. Sunder was returning to Mathura after finalising a groom for his daughter, while Parmanand was returning to Mathura from Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan.
The injured included Vinod from Navali Mirpur, Ravi from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, Lakhan from Rampur, and Jaibhagwan Singh from Jatwari. All the victims were rushed to CHC, where they are undergoing treatment, and the bodies were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem.
Mathura Highway SHO Anand Kumar Shahi said, "Police were alerted about the accident late at night. My team rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to a govt hospital in Mathura."
In the second incident, 20 people sustained injuries after a sleeper bus hit a truck from behind in Firozabad on Wednesday morning.
The passengers were en route to Mathura-Vrindavan when the accident occurred. Police rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment and launched an investigation to find the cause of the accident.
Makhanpur police station SHO Anil Kumar said, "The accident occurred around 5:30 am on Wednesday near Pioneer Chowk here. A bus lost control after the driver dozed off and collided with a truck moving ahead of it. On information, police shifted all the injured to District Combined Hospital in Shikohabad. Some passengers are in critical condition. The truck driver fled the spot, and efforts are being made to trace him. Further investigation is on."
The injured, all residents of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, were on a 10-day tour to Uttar Pradesh that began on Sunday.
In the third incident, two class 10 students on their way home after appearing for their English board exam, were killed after a speeding contracted roadways bus ran over their bike on Aligarh Road.
Ashish Kumar, 15, and Amit Kumar, 16, both residents of Kondara Jahangirpur village in Hathras district, died on the spot. Following the accident, both the bus driver and the conductor fled the scene.
Angry villagers blocked the road in protest, and police arrived to pacify the situation and clear the traffic. Police sent the bodies to Hathras district hospital for post-mortem.
Hathras additional SP Ashok Kumar said, "The bus driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have seized the bus and sent the bodies to the post-mortem house. Further investigation is on."
Sikandra Rao SHO Arvind Rathi said, "A case under relevant BNS sections, including 106 (Causing death by negligence), has been registered and further action will be taken accordingly."
In the fourth incident, 15-year-old Kartik Ahlawat died after a tractor-trolley hit their bike near Sikheda Ganganhar bridge on Panipat-Khatima highway on Wednesday.
Kartik's uncle, Anuj, 40, was taking both Kartik and his cousin Shivam Ahlawat, 16, to board a school bus for their class 10 board exam when the accident occurred. While Anuj and Shivam sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised, Kartik succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The tractor-trolley driver fled the scene, but police have seized the vehicle.
In the fifth incident, 20-year-old Dilshad Khan, a class 12 student from Chandaura Govardhanpur village, died when a car hit his bike in Aligarh on Wednesday.
Khan was on his way to Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Atrauli for his exam when the accident took place. Passers-by rushed him to the CHC, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation. A case has been registered under BNS section 106 (Causing death by negligence).
