Agra: A five-month-old infant was mauled to death by stray dogs in Ramnagar Kutra village, under the Fatehgarh police station limits in Farrukhabad, on Monday evening.
According to the child's father, Raju Singh, a daily-wage worker, the infant was lying on a cot while his mother was cooking nearby when two stray dogs entered the house and attacked him. The mother rushed to the spot and managed to chase the dogs away with sticks. The child was immediately taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors said he had already succumbed to his injuries.
Dr Abhishek Chaturvedi, posted at the hospital, said, "A five-month-old child was brought in by his father. He had multiple bite marks and deep wounds on his back and was declared dead on arrival."
Police said the parents submitted a written statement saying they did not wish to pursue legal action. After completing formalities, the family took the child's body for the last rites.
