Patna IAF air show: One held for flying drone in no-fly zone
PATNA: A drone operator was detained for violating the ‘no-fly zone' on J P Ganga Path, commonly known as Marine Drive, on Monday while the Indian Air Force (IAF) was conducting a rehearsal for its air show to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The area has been declared a ‘no-fly zone' for three days owing to the Surya Kiran aerobatics show by the IAF's team. Following detection of a drone, the IAF officials reported the incident to the local police, who took the operator into custody for questioning.
City SP, Central, Sweety Sehrawat, said, "During the rehearsal, while fighter planes were practising, a young man was flying a drone. The IAF officials objected to this, and immediately informed the local police. The police have taken the man into custody and begun questioning him. We are investigating his intentions. There is no criminal history of the youth. He will be released on personal recognizance (PR) bond from the police station."
Sehrawat added that the IAF considers such incidents serious from a security perspective. Patna police have appealed to the public not to conduct any unauthorised flights, including drones, in no-fly zones.
