Indore: A mix-up in the distribution of exam papers during Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya's (DAVV) third-year foundation course exams on Thursday raised concerns, affecting over 5,000 students.
Two foundational papers were scheduled from 8 am to 10 am, with the first paper scheduled to be Digital Awareness and Cyber Security during the first hour, followed by the other.
Over 15 colleges handed out the Personality Development question paper first instead of Digital Awareness and Cyber Security. Students too completed the wrong paper before realising the mistake.
Since OMR sheets are checked in a fixed format through software, the error could have led to students failing. However, DAVV's Controller of Examinations, Dr Ashesh Tiwari, said that changes will be made in the evaluation process to prevent any negative impact on students.
Following negligence from the 15 colleges, both private and govt, notices will be issued by the university.
This is not the first time such an issue occurred. Last year, some colleges mistakenly distributed English papers instead of Hindi, delaying results for over 100 students. The university has now issued notices to the colleges responsible and has warned of strict action to prevent future errors.
The UG third-year exams for BA, BCom, BBA and other courses commenced on Wednesday, with the first foundational papers of Hindi and English conducted on the first day. The exam is being conducted for over 45,000 students at more than 80 exam centres across the district.
