Plaint against Konkani writer over FB post
Ponda:Mardol police have registered an offence against Prakash Naik, a Konkani writer from Savoi-Verem, for allegedly creating enmity between two language groups.
Naik had allegedly posted on Facebook that those who like Marathi should go to Maharashtra since Marathi is the official language of that state. He had even suggested that Goans not attend a Marathi literature meet.
Police said they have sought information from Facebook regarding the details of the account holder and a notice would be issued to Naik once they get the necessary information.
The complaint was lodged by Madhu Ghodkirekar. The issue was triggered after Naik posted a comment on Facebook regarding a Marathi literary meet held recently.
The post was uploaded on March 31. The complaint was lodged with Mardol police on April 10.
