Jhingan is FC Goa's Player of the Season

Panaji: Sandesh Jhingan proved his mettle yet again as he recovered from a career threatening ACL injury to be adjudged FC Goa's Club Player of the Season 2024-25 at the Awards Night, on Tuesday.
The commanding centre-back was ruled out in January last year which hampered Goa’s progress in the Indian Super League play-offs.
But the defender bounced back strongly after an absence of 10 months this season.
Jhingan clocked 1,739 minutes in 20 matches, registering 85 percent passing accuracy, winning 64 duels with 107 clearances.
Meanwhile, Brison Fernandes emerged as the undisputed star, sweeping multiple honours. The midfielder won the Fans’ Player of the Season, the Players’ Player of the Season, and the Club Young Player of the Season awards. With seven goals, two assists and the title of ISL Emerging Player of the Season, Brison’s impact was felt in every third of the pitch, and he was duly celebrated by fans and teammates alike.
“When we finished second in the ISL league, Brison had some problems with his abductor and is still recovering. I feel because he is a player who can score at any moment, he is a player with a great future,” Goa head coach Manolo Marquez said about Brison on Friday.
A landmark moment came with the presentation of the first-ever Coro Medal, introduced this season in honour of Ferran Corominas, one of the greatest forwards to ever don the FC Goa jersey.
The Coro Medal, named after the Club’s all-time top scorer, is the first award instituted by Goa to be named after a player, commemorating legacy and excellence in front of goal. This year’s recipient was Iker Guarrotxena, whose return to the club proved magical.
With 10 goals and three assists in 22 matches, Iker was instrumental to Goa’s attacking prowess. The award was announced by Coro himself via a video message, marking a symbolic passing of the torch.
Iker recently scored a hat-trick in Goa’s 3-0 win against Gokulam Kerala in the Super Cup round of 16.
