Food delivery executive needs 17 stitches following attack by restaurant owner, staff in Sambhajinagar
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 32-year-old food delivery executive sustained grievous head injuries after allegedly being assaulted by the owner and staff of a restaurant located in the Connaught area of the city. The incident took place on Sunday around 4pm, while an FIR was registered late at night.
Following the attack, Aslam Khan, the delivery executive who is a resident of Nehru Nagar in Kat Kat Gate, required 17 stitches on his head.
The incident occurred when Khan arrived at the restaurant, Chote Miya Kitchen, to collect a customer's food order. According to his complaint filed with the Cidco police, he noticed that other people, who had placed their orders after him, were being served first. When he questioned the staff about the delay, he reportedly got an arrogant response.
Khan told police that later he approached the restaurant owner to express his concerns. What began as a verbal altercation soon escalated and turned violent. The owner, along with two cooks and another employee, allegedly attacked Khan using large metal spoons and other kitchen tools. The blows to his head were so severe that he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors administered 17 stitches to close the wounds.
The Cidco police have registered a case based on Khan's complaint and have booked all four accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include sections 118(1) for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 352 for assault or use of criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation, 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and 3(5) for common intention.
Relatives of the injured man have alleged that police were being lenient towards the accused and had failed to collect CCTV footage of the incident.
