Hailstorms damage horticulture crops in Alluri Sitharama Raju district
Visakhapatnam: Rains accompanied by hailstorms lashed several parts of Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Saturday and Sunday, damaging standing horticulture crops. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Amaravati forecast that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema over the next three days until April 30. Gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during this period.
Hot weather and high humidity levels made life difficult for residents in coastal and Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Kadapa recorded the highest temperature in the state on Sunday, sweltering under 42.4 degrees Celsius, followed by 40 degrees Celsius each in Nandyal and Tirupati, 39.9 degrees Celsius in Anantapur, and 39.3 degrees Celsiusin Kurnool. Vizag city recorded 37 degrees Celsiuson Sunday. The IMD forecast that hot and humid weather will continue in parts of the state.
