CID forgoes grilling of PSR on first day as vitals waver
Vijayawada: Senior IPS officer and former director general of intelligence, PSR Anjaneyulu, who was taken into custody by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday morning, was returned to Vijayawada district jail after a medical check-up revealed significant fluctuations in his blood pressure.
CID officials took Anjaneyulu into custody from the jail at around 10 am, after the court granted them a three-day custody for interrogation. As per procedure, he was first shifted to the Vijayawada govt general hospital for a medical examination. However, doctors observed severe blood pressure variations after a 45-minute check-up, prompting CID officials to return him to jail without proceeding with the day's interrogation.
Officials are expected to attempt taking Anjaneyulu into custody again on Monday and Tuesday, in accordance with the court's direction. As per the III additional chief judicial magistrate's orders, the CID is permitted to interrogate him between 10 am and 5 pm each day in the presence of his lawyers.
Anjaneyulu's custody is linked to a high-profile criminal conspiracy case involving the harassment and wrongful confinement of a Mumbai-based actress and her family. Investigations revealed that YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidya Sagar (A-1), allegedly angered by the actress rejecting his marriage proposal, orchestrated a plan to frame her in a false forgery case.
Vidya Sagar, with assistance from Anjaneyulu and other senior officers, fabricated a land sale agreement, planted evidence, and falsely implicated the actress and her family. They were arrested in Mumbai on February 3, 2024, and were illegally detained for 42 days.
Anjaneyulu was arrested earlier this week and charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including forgery, wrongful confinement, conspiracy, and abuse of official power. He remains lodged in Vijayawada district jail.
