Akhand Path Sahib to conclude with ‘langar’ in Kashi today
Varanasi: A three-day Akhand Path Sahib began at the historic gurudwara in Rajputana Hostel of IIT-BHU on Friday. The event is organised annually by the Sikh Gurudwara Association of Banaras Hindu University. The Gurudwara was established on directions of BHU founder Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya.
The programme was led by Dr Kulwant Singh of the department of neurosurgery, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU. Dr Jasmeet Singh of the department of dravyaguna, faculty of ayurveda, said the akhand path will conclude on Sunday with Gurbani, kirtan and a sacred prayer till 1pm, followed by distribution of ‘Guru da Langar' to the devotees.
Dr Jasmeet Singh said the event was a highly significant religious event in Sikh tradition, comprising continuous reading of Guru Granth Sahib. All volunteers of the Sikh Gurudwara Association participated actively in the event. Additionally, Sikh and Punjabi community members, including teachers, officials, staff and students from various faculties and departments of Banaras Hindu University and IIT-BHU, are participating in large numbers. The entire Gurudwara complex has been illuminated to mark the occasion of Baisakhi and melodious sound of Gurbani has created a devotional atmosphere.
