Trichy: In Trichy, BJP general secretary Karuppu Muruganandham, along with party city unit president Ondi Muthu led demonstrations. Muruganandham accused the chief minister of "betraying" the people of Tamil Nadu by welcoming the chief minister of Kerala and the deputy chief minister of Karnataka despite unresolved issues with both states.
"The DMK govt did not convene a similar meeting for Mekedatu. Similarly, nothing was done regarding Mullaiperiyar. This meeting, bringing together opposition parties from other states, is just an attempt to divert attention from real issues concerning the people, such as deteriorating law and order, reduced safety for women, and corruption," he said. Muruganandham also alleged that the DMK was spreading false information about the delimitation process. "In his recent visit to Tamil Nadu, the Union home minister clearly said that the number of constituencies in TN will not reduce. Despite assurances, the DMK wants to create a false narrative," he said.
Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, a former MLC from Telangana and the BJP's national co-in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, who arrived in Trichy to attend a public meeting on Sunday led by BJP state president K Annamalai, accused the parties participating in the joint action committee meeting of finding ‘commonality in corruption.' "Chief minister M K Stalin called it a historic day for Indian federalism. But it is a historic day for opportunism," he said. Apart from Trichy, BJP leaders in Karur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai also held similar protests in district offices and in front of their residences.
