T'puram: A day after the arrest of a staff member at a Bharat Petroleum petrol pump near Bakery Junction, for stabbing a customer, Cantonment police arrested the customer, on the complaint of the staff for attacking him.
Rajesh Maniyan, 44, of Vattiyoorkavu, was arrested on the complaint of Anavoor native Shiju, 25, who remains in judicial custody following the former's complaint.
Police said Rajesh was admitted to a hospital after being stabbed but he escaped to take revenge. Carrying a wooden piece, Rajesh reached the petrol pump and attacked Shiju on the head. Shiju was hospitalized by the staff of the petrol pump.
The incident happened on Thursday night when Rajesh reached the pump to fill fuel and his payment s not credited to the account of the recipient. However, Rajesh's account showed that the amount was debited. This led to an argument and the duo started abusing each other. Suddenly, the staff took out a knife and stabbed Rajesh in the stomach. After this, the staff escaped and Rajesh was hospitalised by other staff at the pump. Later, Rajesh came back to attack the staff.
Rajesh was remanded after being produced before a court on charges under sections of the BNS 110 for attempting to commit culpable homicide, 118 (1) for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon, 115 (2) for causing simple hurt, 351 (2) for criminal intimidation, 296 (b) for abusing, and 126 (2) for abusing.
