Crime branch quizzes ‘lover’ in bobbitisation case
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime branch officers probing the bobbitisation case on Wednesday questioned Swami Gangesananda’s former aide Ayyappadas in connection with the probe. Though Ayyappadas’s name had cropped up immediately after the incident over a month ago, it was the first time he was being questioned by police.
Crime branch SP (organized crime wing) Mohammed Shabeer, however, remained tight-lipped about the details of the interrogation.

He said that
Ayyappadas was let off after recording his statements.
It was on the night of May 19 that the incidents related to the case, including the alleged rape of a 23-year-old law student by the swami in the former’s residence at Kannammoola here and the subsequent bobbitisation of the swami, took place.
Sources close to the swami had pointed fingers at Ayyappadas soon after the incident.
Later the woman involved in the case too crossed floors and named Ayyappadas as the one who brainwashed her and instigated her to bobbitise the swami because of personal vendetta.
The woman’s allegations against Ayyappadas was that he convinced her that the swami looted several lakhs of rupees from her family through devious means and hence she needed to take revenge on him.
The woman also accused the police of coming up with the rape allegation against the swami by misrepresenting facts.
The CBI probe that she had sought before court was eventually turned down. In the meantime, the state government handed over the case to the crime branch.
