Six people died after they were buried under a huge Deodar tree that fell on them due to a landslide in Manikaran in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
The incident happened at around 4.45 pm on the road in front of the gurdwara where street vendors have put up temporary shops.
Kullu Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikas Shukla told TOI that the victims died on the spot only.
“Teams of police, fire and health departments immediately reached the spot after being informed. Unfortunately, the victims had died on the spot and their bodies were retrieved from under the tree,” said Shukla, who also reached the spot from the district headquarters Kullu.
By the filing of this report, the police had identified one of the six victims as Reena, a local resident.
