‘Compensate HP for loss due to GST’
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh technical education minister Rajesh Dharmani has raised the issue of compensating the hill state on the lines of the ‘Kyoto Protocol’, which provides for compensating low carbon emission countries in comparison to the nations with high carbon emissions. During the 55th GST Council meeting at Jaisalmer on Saturday, Dharmani also argued in favour of factoring in low population density.
The minister urged to introduce some arrangements so that hilly states like Himachal Pradesh could be compensated for loss of revenue due to GST implementation. He also took up the issue of Rs 200 crore demand notices issued by the CGST authorities to toll lessees of Himachal Pradesh.
