Chatra: A potential disaster was averted at Simaria Referral Hospital in Chatra on Friday when three youths contained a generator blast. The incident, which caused panic among patients and medical staff, occurred after the generator had been running continuously for two days due to power cut.
The explosion filled the hospital with smoke, prompting immediate evacuation. Three men — Anil Kumar, Rajkumar, and hospital worker Ravindra Kumar — demonstrated exceptional courage by using the hospital's fire extinguishers to douse the flames, saving numerous lives and preventing extensive damage to the facility. Dr Brijnandan Prasad, the hospital in-charge, attributed the blast to a short circuit.
