Rajkot: Two people have died of heat stroke in Kutch district over the past three days, as Gujarat continues to battle a severe heatwave. Authorities have issued warnings urging citizens to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours.
According to police reports, the first victim, Babubha Jadeja (65), collapsed on Mandvi Road in Bhuj on Thursday due to suspected heat stroke. He was rushed to a govt hospital in an unconscious state but was declared dead on arrival. Bhuj A Division police station registered the case as an accidental death due to heat stroke.
In a separate incident, a 36-year-old truck driver from Haryana, identified as Sirazuddin Rehman, died of cardiac arrest triggered by heat stroke. He had come to the region to load pomegranates and collapsed on Wednesday afternoon. Despite being taken to the hospital, he could not be saved. The incident was registered as an accidental death at Paddhar police station.
With temperatures soaring, the Gujarat administration has issued advisories urging people to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day. Special caution has been advised for children, the elderly, and pregnant women, along with reminders to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
