India’s 1st AI-based data center park to be in CG: CM
Raipur: In what is being termed as a step towards advancing India's digital transformation journey by the govt, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai laid the foundation stone on Saturday for the country's first Artificial Intelligence-based Data Center Park in Sector-22 of Nava Raipur. Spread over 13.5 acres, the cutting-edge facility is set to position Chhattisgarh at the forefront of India's technological evolution.
The data center park will initially offer five megawatts of capacity, with a bold vision to scale up to 150 megawatts. A 2.7-hectare zone within the park is being developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), tailored exclusively for AI-based services—a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country. An additional Rs 2,000 crore investment is projected as the project scales.
What makes this development groundbreaking is not just its scale but its ambition. With a sharp focus on green, energy-efficient technologies, the center will serve as a hub for high-performance computing, offering services in AI, FinTech, HealthTech, Defense, and data analytics.
"This is not just a data center—it's the digital backbone for a new era of growth and empowerment," said CM Sai, calling the project "transformational" for the youth, farmers, and tribal communities of the state.
The facility will boast GPU-based infrastructure for real-time data processing, live streaming, and AI-powered analytics, placing it firmly among global standards. The initiative is set to create 2,000 jobs, with priority to local youth—500 direct and 1,500 indirect employment opportunities are expected.
The park consolidates AI computing, data storage, processing, and analytics under one roof, making Chhattisgarh an emerging hub for high-tech businesses.
Smart farming will get a boost from AI tools, real-time crop monitoring, weather forecasting, and intelligent supply chain solutions—directly benefiting local agriculture. Digital infrastructure will reach remote tribal areas, bringing telemedicine, e-education, and online governance into previously underserved regions.
The center will manage both domestic and international data traffic, reducing dependency on external infrastructure and pushing Chhattisgarh closer to becoming a digitally self-reliant state. "Chhattisgarh is ready to become the heartbeat of Digital India," CM Sai said, adding that the state took a confident step into a smarter, faster, and more inclusive digital future.
