Two-day Kundalpur Mahotsav to begin at Nalanda from April 11

Biharsharif: The two-day ‘Kundalpur Mahotsav', organised at Nalanda's Kundalpur village to mark the 2624th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Jain Tirthankar, will be inaugurated either by CM Nitish Kumar or governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Friday, said a district administration officer here on Wednesday. He said a confirmation is still awaited.Hundreds of devotees visit Kundalpur from across the country and abroad to participate in the ‘shobha yatra', taken out in the area after special prayers conducted at the main Jain temple on the inaugural day of the function.The organising secretary of the Mahotsav, Vijay Jain, said the puja ceremony is held at the main temple located within the ‘Nandavart Palace'. A section of the people from the Jain community believe Nandavart Palace to be the birthplace of Lord Mahavir.
