CUSB convocation: Guv asks students to serve deprived section of society with humility
Patna: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Thursday called upon the students of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya, to serve the ailing people with utmost humility with the knowledge gained at their Alma mater.
Delivering the convocation address at the CUSB, Khan said the responsibility of students should not be limited to obtaining degrees and getting jobs, but they should also take care of those sections of the society which have never gone to any school or college, and remain bereft of the basic minimum amenities in society.
As many as 1346 scholars who passed their undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from the university in 2021 and 2022 sessions received their degrees at the fourth convocation of the university, and 80 of them were awarded gold medals for having topped the examinations. Of the 80 gold medalists, 59 were girls and only 21 were boys, championing the cause of women's empowerment.
The governor said that modern youths must respect their seniors and have strong faith in their social culture. Quoting the Upanishad sutra "Satyam vada, dharmam chara", he asked the students to speak their truth and follow the basic ethics of life. He also inspired the students through the verses of Bhagavad Gita, Vedas and other ancient scriptures to participate in human welfare activities.
As a special guest, the state cooperative minister Prem Kumar, highlighted the role of youth, especially students, in realizing the idea of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. He said that CUSB is playing an important role in this direction where students from different communities and cultures get education.
CUSB vice-chancellor K N Singh, founder vice-chancellor Janak Pandey, registrar Narendra Kumar Rana, examination controller Santigopal Pain and former registrar Rajiv Kumar Singh were present on the occasion.
After the convocation, the governor also inaugurated the Jeevak Health Center at CUSB campus.
