Toddler abducted a week ago rescued, couple arrested
Noida: An 18-month-old girl, kidnapped earlier this week, was rescued by police on Saturday in a swift operation that led to the arrest of a couple involved in the abduction. The police team was rewarded Rs 25,000 by the deputy commissioner of police (DCP), central Noida, for their prompt action.
The accused, identified as Renu (44), a native of Aligarh, and Dinesh (28), from Hathras, had allegedly taken the child from Yusufpur Chak Shahberi without the mother's knowledge.
DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy said, "On March 18, Bisrakh police received a complaint from the child's mother stating that her daughter was taken away by Renu and Dinesh, who worked as sweepers at 14G Avenue, Gaur City, on March 16. A case was registered under Section 358 (kidnapping from lawful guardianship) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and multiple teams were deployed to trace the child."
Police reviewed nearly 200 CCTV footage clips, tracking the accused's movements. Based on intelligence that the couple had previously worked at a brick kiln, police conducted searches across multiple locations, including Kasganj, Aligarh, Sant Kabirnagar, Ghaziabad, Rajasthan's Majri area, and Haryana's Bhiwani and Rewari districts.
A breakthrough came when a kiln in Khodi, Bhiwani, informed police that a couple matching the suspects' description had recently worked there but returned to the city to collect their belongings. Acting on this lead, officers tracked the duo to Amrapali River View Society, Bisrakh, where they were arrested and the child was rescued.
During interrogation, Renu disclosed that she was married to a man named Rajveer in Aligarh's Iglas area and had four children with him. She reportedly met Dinesh four years ago, and the two began an affair before moving to Bisrakh, where they worked as cleaners.
The police official added, "They came in contact with the child's family while working and, unable to have a child of their own, decided to abduct the girl and flee."
The child has been reunited with her family and is reportedly unharmed. Further legal proceedings are underway.
