Ghaziabad: A 42-year-old man whose genitals were cut off last week had actually hired three people to remove his body part because he wanted to become the leader of a trans group, police found after a week-long investigation.
Sanjay Yadav, who earns his living by selling milk, had given money to three, including two trans persons—Jogender alias Mohin (35), Taniya Khan alias Bangalan (27), and Brahma Singh (58) alias Ajay —to carry out the
bobbitisation, said a senior police officer.
An FIR was registered on Feb 28 based on Sanjay's son Prince Yadav's complaint, who alleged that three people broke into their Gaushala in Bamheta, where his father was sleeping in the room, and chopped off his private parts after drugging him.
Prince told police that his father overheard one of the attackers talking on the phone and saying, ‘Paro Guru, we have done the job.' After removing his genitals, they poured hot water on him to bring him to consciousness, and he immediately felt excruciating pain, after which the 42-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors stabilised his condition.
Upon investigation, police found that the accused had a rivalry with Paro, a trans person residing in Masarovar Park, who has significant influence over the trans community in the area. They wanted to frame this as an attack and charge Paro with the crime.
ACP Upasana Pandey said the accused wanted to remove Paro from the position and make Sanjay their leader. "The three wanted to include Sanjay in their plan, who was already working with them, and make him their guru." However, in the transgender community, one cannot join without undergoing surgery to remove private parts, nor can they assume a leadership position like Paro, said ACP, adding, "Therefore, they carried out bobbitisation with Sanjay's consent. The private parts were removed by Tania Khan," ACP said.
The three were paid Rs 5,000 each for the task, ACP said. "Sanjay will be arrested in the case as soon as his condition stabilises," ACP added.
The accused were booked under BNS sections 109 (1) (attempt to murder), 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy), 118 (2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon or means), and 333 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint).
