Ghaziabad: An FIR was registered against a councillor's husband and over 26 farmers for allegedly trying to enter the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Kamla Nehru Nagar illegally. The group was protesting against the alleged construction of a temple on CDTI premises.
Raju, an accused, is the husband of Ward-53 councillor Suman Devi. Apart from him, a case was filed against Vinod Chaudhary, a Raispur farmer who said the temple was being built on his land, and 25 others, said police.
The action was taken on the complaint of Surensh Chandra, a security guard. "Suddenly, the large group tried to enter the CDTI. They misbehaved when security guards attempted to stop them at the gate. They also tried to create an atmosphere of fear by taking videos and photos with their mobile phones. They fled when police arrived," he said.
Raju said, "Some farmers told me that a temple was being constructed on their land, not acquired by the govt, inside CTDI premises. We went and checked the details. We didn't misbehave with anyone, and we had a good conversation with the police and the CDTI officials. They assured us they will not start any construction as the matter's in the court."
Vinod Chaudhary said he owns 6,750 sq feet plot inside CDTI. "We haven't sold the land. In 2013, we took the matter to court. It is yet to be resolved. On Thursday, we found that construction work is going on my land. During the construction of CDTI in 2013, a boundary wall was built occupying some of the farmers' land. Since then, we have been fighting for our land in court. The next hearing is scheduled for April 18. We will apply for a stay on the temple construction," Chaudhary said.
DCP (city) Rajesh Kumar said an FIR was registered under BNS sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 191 (2) (rioting), 223 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant), 333 (house-trespass), and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of trust) at Madhuban Bapudham police station.
