Woman officer needs protection: KRS party chief
Shivamogga: Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS) Party president Ravi Krishna Reddy has voiced his support to a woman officer from the geology and mines department, who allegedly endured harassment while inspecting illegal sand mining operations in Bhadravathi. A video on this has gone viral.
Reddy alleged the caller may be the son of an influential politician. "Such courageous officers are rare in our state. This lady officer from Shivamogga deserves protection. The govt must initiate suo moto action," Reddy urged chief minister Siddaramaiah.
Sources told TOI the incident occurred on Saturday night when KRS party members accompanied geologist KK Jyothi to the site. However, neither the officer nor the senior geological officials commented on the matter.
When contacted, Shivamogga DC Gurudatt Hegde said he was not aware of the incident. He directed the queries to the relevant department. SP G K Mithun Kumar told TOI that he would examine the video and investigate the incident.
