Pahalgam attack: 3 Pakistani nationals deported from Mysuru
Mysuru: Three Pakistani nationals residing in Mysuru were deported by Mysuru City police. The trio were summoned, informed, and asked to leave the country.
However, five others on long-term visas were exempted.
After the April 22 terror attack on a group of tourists visiting Pahalgam, a notice was issued to Pakistani nationals residing in India to leave the country. Those with long-term visas are being allowed to stay, while the rest were asked to leave.
Commissioner of police Seema Latkar informed TOI that three Pakistani nationals living in Mysuru city were sent back, and five others who are on long-term visas will stay in the city until further notice.
Police said Pakistani nationals are allowed to enter India under 12 different categories, including for business, film shooting, attending conferences, as students, visitors, or on pilgrimage. Some of them obtained long-term visas, and the rest have short-term visas. According to rules, all Pakistani nationals entering India have to report to local police within 24 hours of their arrival and leave before the expiry of their visa period.
Police said there was no overstaying of Pakistani nationals reported in the recent past and mentioned that the nationals leave two days before the expiry of the visa period to avoid any legal action.
There are no such cases in the southern range comprising Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts, according to DIG (Southern Range) Boralingaiah.
