Guarantee schemes will not be stopped under any circumstances: CM
Mysuru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah reaffirmed govt's commitment to both social welfare and infrastructure development, stating, "We will not stop guarantee schemes under any circumstances."
"Along with these schemes, we are also implementing development works across the state," the CM said at a public event in Periyapatna, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 439.8 crore in Periyapatna assembly constituency.
The chief minister announced that a total of 122 projects were launched in the taluk under this initiative. Highlighting the region's agrarian economy, he said subsidised agricultural equipment was distributed and that the govt's rental scheme for farm machinery has been supporting farmers' productivity and income.
Siddaramaiah also praised Minister K Venkatesh, calling him "a man of few words but work more and for the welfare of the people."
Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar underscored the importance of people-first governance. He spoke on the challenges faced by farmers and reiterated govt's commitment to improving agricultural infrastructure, referencing Babu Jagjivan Ram's contributions to the Green Revolution. "With Periyapatna's favourable soil for sericulture and reduced silk imports from China, local farmers are being encouraged to focus on silk production. A Rs 147 crore solar power project aimed at generating 40 MW of electricity is under way to support irrigation needs," he said.
District minister HC Mahadevappa highlighted that five guarantee schemes have benefitted over 1.2 crore families. Animal husbandry and sericulture minister K Venkatesh announced the sanction of Rs 300 crore for projects to fill local lakes with water and other initiatives.
The event also marked the birth anniversaries of social reformers BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram and the launch of the seventh round of the foot-and-mouth disease vaccination drive. Beneficiaries of various govt schemes received their entitlements during the programme.
Urban development minister Byrathi Suresh, higher education minister Sudhakar, KR Nagar MLA D Ravishankar, MLCs Yathindra, Thimmaiah, Exhibition Authority chairman Ayub Khan, deputy commissioner G Lakshmikant Reddy, and ZP CEO S Ukesh Kumar were present.
