Meerut: A 16-year-old boy was shot dead by two unidentified bike-borne assailants near Bansuri village in Jahangirabad block, Bulandshahr, on Friday, allegedly due to family enmity.
Police said
Nikhil Kumar was riding his bicycle to a nearby market when the helmeted assailants opened fire. Three bullets struck his shoulder and chest, and he succumbed at the district hospital.
SSP Bulandshahr, Shlok Kumar, said the murder may be linked to a
family feud. "Nikhil's elder sister was in a relationship with a relative, and they eloped nearly a year ago. They were found living in Delhi, but a rivalry erupted when Nikhil's elder brother and four others murdered the woman's lover in 2024. All five are currently in Tihar Jail. The family suspects their rivals of killing Nikhil. An investigation is underway," he said.
Police handed over the body to the family in the evening after a post-mortem. Nikhil's father is a marginal farmer, and the boy had recently appeared for his Class 10 exams.
