Bijnor: Acting on leads from the arrested kidnappers, police on Friday recovered two gold coins and charred clothing belonging to actor
Mushtaq Khan in the kidnapping case involving him and comedian
Sunil Pal.
The main accused, Lavi Pal and former Nagar Palika councillor Sarthak Chaudhary, were taken into custody after a court approved the police's request on Thursday evening. During questioning on Friday, Lavi Pal led investigators to a highway near Jahanabad village in Najibabad, where Khan's burnt clothes and a partially charred suitcase were discovered.
Police also seized two 10-gram gold coins purchased in Meerut using Sunil Pal's mobile phone. "The accused used Pal's phone to buy jewellery after kidnapping him," said a senior police officer. Earlier, Khan's mobile phone had been recovered from Bihar.
Investigations revealed that the gang targeted celebrities by inviting them to fake events. Mushtaq Khan was abducted on Nov 20 while travelling to an event on the Delhi-Meerut highway. During his captivity, the kidnappers withdrew money from his account. Khan managed to escape the next morning while his captors were intoxicated and asleep but had to leave behind his mobile phone and suitcase.
The case was first reported on Dec 9 when Khan's event manager, Shivam Yadav, filed a complaint with Bijnor police. This led to the discovery of Sunil Pal's abduction in Meerut, which was connected to the same gang.
"All ten suspects in these cases have been arrested," said the police.
