Trained force from UP Police to strengthen vigil at Noida airport
Lucknow: In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision of making Noida International Airport (NIA) a symbol of excellence and security, the Uttar Pradesh Police is preparing to deploy a specially trained unit of 131 personnel at the upcoming airport in Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar. The deployment will focus on immigration services—one of the most crucial components of airport security. As per officials, the first batch of 45 police personnel completed training, with the remaining batches expected to finish by July. The training, conducted by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Lucknow under the Bureau of Immigration's guidance, includes modules on immigration law, passport and visa fraud detection, smuggling, human trafficking, and e-visa monitoring.Among the selected personnel are 10 inspectors, 42 sub-inspectors, and 62 constables, all under 50 years of age and proficient in English and computer operations. Once NIA becomes operational, immigration services will be managed across 19 counters (10 for arrivals, 9 for departures), staffed by these trained officers. The rigorous one-month training combines theoretical knowledge, field experience, and real-time response skills, preparing officers to identify fake documents, intercept traffickers, and deal with emerging threats. The initiative marks a strategic step to ensure world-class security and passenger-friendly operations at one of Asia's largest upcoming airports.
