Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of three deaths in lightning strikes in Mau on Tuesday and directed officials to issue immediately Rs 4 lakh relief amount to families of the deceased.
In the light of ongoing rain and thundershowers across the state, Yogi also directed officials to remain vigilant and carry out a survey of loss of crops, lives and livestock, ensuring families affected were provided relief at the earliest.
"CM expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives due to lightning strikes in Mau. He extended condolence to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls," said an official.
Directing senior officials to monitor relief efforts, Yogi stated that in cases of loss of life or livestock due to lightning, storms, or rain, immediate distribution of relief funds to victims must be ensured and any person or animal injured should receive proper treatment.
"The CM asked for a survey of crops destroyed in rain and storm and to provide detailed report to govt so that necessary action was taken. He also directed relevant departments to make proper arrangements for drainage in cases of waterlogging," the spokesperson said.
In past 24 hours, two more deaths due to lightning were reported one each in Ballia and Lakhimpur. In addition to this, five persons lost their lives due to rain and thunderstorms. These included two deaths in Aligarh and one each in Jhansi, Auriya and Deoria.
