LUCKNOW: Activist Medha Patkar on Friday motivated Muslim women to soar high in the sky like a Shaheen (eagle) so that there can be a change on the ground.
She was in the city to support
Socialist Party of India candidate from Lucknow north Rani Siddiqui.
She interacted with men and women in the densely populated Husainabad locality, asking them to not be fearful and take a stand for their rights.
"The government repealed the farm laws with the promise that they will give the right price to our farmers for their crop. But the promise is yet to be fulfilled. Instead of the previously allotted 4.3% of the budget to farmers, this year the share was brought down to 3.8%," she said.
"The government rakes up non-issues of ‘love jihad’ and ‘hijab’. But, we will not fall in the trap and use our vote intelligently. If you fly high like the eagle in the sky then you can bring change on the ground as well," she said.
