LUCKNOW: Devotees thronged the city gurdwaras which were decorated with white flowers and fairy lights on Monday. They visited the gurdwaras to witness the special diwans organized to commemorate Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day. A special floral shower was also organized at the gurdwaras to mark the occasion.
Guru Tegh Bahadur was ninth of the 10 Sikh gurus.
It was on this day when he was executed by Aurangzeb in 1675 after he denied to convert to Islam. At Guru Tegh Bahadur historic gurdwara Yahiyaganj, a special diwan was organized twice during the day.
Hajuri Ragi Sarabjeet Singh from Patna Sahib and Sarabjeet Singh, Hajuri Ragi from Amritsar Sahib performed shabad kirtans at Gurdwara Yahiyaganj, while Gyani Baljeet Singh from Amritsar Sahib made the devotees aware about the facts related to Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom.
"On the occasion, 150 people participated in a quiz competition organised on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur. A blood donation camp was also organised," said Gurmeet Singh, the president of gurdwara Yahiyaganj. At gurdwara Naka Hindola, a shabad kirtan was performed by Ragi Rajinder Singh. The story about the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur was narrated by Gyani Sukhdev Singh. "The kids of Simran Sadhana Parivar performed kirtans to mark the occasion. They were later felicitated with a Saropa," said Rajinder Singh Bagga, the president of gurdwara Naka Hindola.
Similarly, a special diwan was organised at gurdwara Alambagh followed by a blood donation camp.
