KOLKATA: A day after Kabir Suman threatened to quit as MP, there are signs of the controversy finally coming to an end. Trinamool sources claimed that feelers have been sent to the maverick MP who has also shown signs of mellowing down. From Sunday onwards Suman has let a verbal assault on his party colleagues, prompting the party chief to describe him as a "guest".

Trinamool Congress sources said that word was sent to the singer-MP through two "well-wishers" late on Tuesday night who went to meet him. Most of the party MPs including Mamata Banerjee are in Delhi to attend the winter session of the Parliament beginning from next week. Suman, who had earlier decided to stay away from the entire winter session, may change his mind and take part in Lok Sabha sessions, a trinamool leader claim.
Hectic parleys started from Tuesday evening onwards, as Suman's reservation against being described as a guest and subsequent threat to resign was aired. By the time, Suman's salvo came Trinamool chief and some other Trinamool MPs had already left for Delhi. Immediate contact was established with people close to both the party and Suman with instructions to sort out the problem. Later on Wednesday, Suman went and met a veteran writer.
Trinamool sources claimed that the "well-wishers" have managed to convince the first-time MP not to take any hasty decision. Trinamool sources claimed that Suman will attend the winter session.
"I'm waiting for a call from Mamata Banerjee," Kabir Suman said on Wednesday. The individualist that the singer is, he wants to retain his right to speak against the Union government on certain issues, like condemning the joint operation in Lalgarh. Trinamool Congress sources said the party general secretary and union minister of state for shipping Mukul Roy has already spoken to Suman and pacified him. Trinamool sources said that Mamata Banerjee is also likely to talk to Suman soon.
