NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister
Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday appealed to protesting teachers, who have been demonstrating against the cancellation of their appointments, to return to work. She assured them that the state government would safeguard their salaries.
Addressing the issue, Banerjee said, Return to work. The government is committed to protecting your salaries. We will stand by you.
Her remarks come amid growing unrest among school teachers whose jobs were recently terminated due to alleged irregularities in recruitment.
Hundreds of teachers have taken to the streets over the past few weeks, demanding job security and clarity on their future. Many have expressed concerns about financial uncertainty and questioned the handling of the recruitment process.
